Author

Clara Rowland (1978) was born in Coimbra, grew up in Italy and lives in Lisbon. She teaches Brazilian and Comparative Literature at the Nova University of Lisbon. She always enjoyed trying to understand things with the help of other things: books that talk about other books, films or images; films that talk about books, other films or songs. She once read an interview in which the French director François Truffaut spoke of how, as a child, of the films that he watched – and he watched a lot! – he knew by heart all that he heard: dialogues, music, noises. It seemed to her to describe a relationship with reading – or even a way of life.
