Gon\u00e7alo M. Tavares was born in Luanda in 1970 and teaches the Theory of Science in Lisbon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has surprised his readers with the variety of books he has published since 2001 and has been awarded an impressive number of national and international literary prizes in a very short time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2005, with “Jerusal\u00e9m”, he won the Jos\u00e9 Saramago Prize for young writers under 35. “Jerusal\u00e9m” was also awarded the Pr\u00e9mio Portugal Telecom de Literatura em L\u00edngua Portuguesa 2007 and the LER\/Millenium Prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His novel “Aprender a rezar na era da t\u00e9cnica” received the prestigious Prize for the Best Foreign Book in France, in 2010. This book was also shortlisted for the renowned French literary awards Femina \u00c9tranger Prize and M\u00e9dicis Prize and won the Special Prize of the Jury of the Grand Prix Litt\u00e9raire du Web Cultura 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2011, Gon\u00e7alo M. Tavares received the renowned Grande Pr\u00e9mio da Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Portuguesa de Escritores. He was also nominated for the renowned Dutch Europese Literatuurprijs 2013 and was long-listed for the Best Translated Fiction Book Award 2013. He was nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin award 2013 and, most recently, for the Prix Jean-Monnet de Litt\u00e9rature Europ\u00e9enne 2015 and 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gon\u00e7alo M.
