Richard Zimler\u2019s books have been translated into 23 languages and have appeared on bestseller lists in 12 different countries. His most recent novel, The Incandescent Threads, was named one of the Best Books of 2022 by the Sunday Times and Jewish Chronicle. It was also a finalist for the National Jewish Book Awards in the United States and a Number 1 bestseller in Portugal.
Richard has lived in Portugal since 1990 and has both Portuguese and American nationality. He has published 14 novels and seven children\u2019s books over the last 25 years. He writes his novels in English and books for children in Portuguese.
In 2018, The Dog Who Ate Raindrops won the Bissaya-Barreto prize in Portugal as the best children\u2019s book published over the previous two years.
In 2017, Richard was awarded Porto\u2019s highest honor, the Medal of Honor, for his contributions to the culture of his adopted city and the entire country.
Since 2000, he has lectured about his writing and Jewish history and culture at more than 400 schools and universities, 150 bookshops, 100 libraries and 50 cultural centers.
