Carla Maia de Almeida was born in Matosinhos, on January 12, 1969. She is a journalist since 1992. She has a degree and a post-graduation in Media Studies from the New University of Lisbon and a post-graduation in Children’s Books from the Portuguese Catholic University.
With Caminho she has published O gato e a Rainha Só (illustrations by Júlio Vanzeler, 2005), Não quero usar óculos (illustrations by André Letria, 2008), and Ainda falta muito? (illustrations by Alex Gozblau, 2009). She has also published a short story in Capuchinho Vermelho: Histórias Secretas e Outras Menos (Bags of Books, 2012) and A Lebre de Chumbo, with illustrations by Alex Gozblau (APCC, 2012). She lives in Lisbon and practices gardening at the blog O Jardim Assombrado (The Haunted Garden).
