The author Bernardo P. Carvalho was this year’s winner of the National Illustration Award, for the illustrations in the book “Hey, Big Bang!“, published by Planeta Tangerina. The jury has highlighted the “constant search to which the author submits his work, always with surprising and high quality results”.
The jury has also given a Special Mention to Joana Estrela for the illustrations in “Here is a good place” — which is part of our Two steps and a leap collection.
The National Illustration Award is a yearly initiative by the DGLAB (Direcção-Geral do Livro Arquivos e Bibliotecas) which awards a Portuguese illustrator for a work published on the previous year.
This is the second time Bernardo P. Carvalho wins the award, after having won in 2009, with the book “Fast, slow“.
