Inês Teixeira do Rosário

Author and biologist

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1973, Inês Teixeira do Rosário moved to Alentejo when she was only 3 years old. There, she discovered the joys of living outdoors and running around freely. It was probably there, outside, – among fields and dams – that she began to appreciate nature.

Inês received her degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, and continued on to achieve her PhD within the same institution, in Ecology.

She studied reptiles, amphibians and mammals. She observed the places where chameleons live and mapped the places where they roam and nest, their behaviours and habitats. She has also worked has an environmental consultant and participated in environmental impact studies and ecological monitoring.

The focus of her PhD was a particular mouse (Cabrera’s vole), a vulnerable species in the Iberian Peninsula.

Nowadays, besides mice, bats or chameleons, Inês still enjoys many other things and continues to look for special subjects to study.
